Writing Topic - Titanic
Class 3 and 5 are really enjoying their writing topic this half term – The Titanic! It has been lovely to see them doing extra work at home and the positive responses we received from parents evening were excellent. We have also been contacted by the museum, ‘Titanic Belfast,’ who are extremely excited about the work and the writing we are doing in school.
First, we wrote non-chronological reports about the luxurious, magnificent liner. Take a look at our excellent writing.
Then, we designed our own persuasive posters to persuade people to buy their ticket to travel on the Titanic, on its maiden voyage to New York.
Afterwards, we recreated boarding the Titanic. We were each given our very own ticket and class. It was so hard to get to the ticket inspector because of all the crowds of people who were excited to catch their first glimpse of the Titanic. After having our tickets stamped, we walked along the gangplank to board the ship. Unfortunately, some of us we not allowed to board the boat, we had to have a health inspection first. First class had fine furniture and the very best food on board, whilst third class lived in small, cramped conditions. Once, we had all boarded we explored the ship. We found the swimming pool, gymnasium and tennis courts. However, only first class were allowed to use these facilities, the rest of us had to watch. Finally, we noticed there weren’t many lifeboats, but that didn’t matter to us because we were on an unsinkable ship with an ingenious safety system.
Please take a listen to our dramatic monologue.
