The Holocaust Centre
On Wednesday 7thNovember Class 4 went on a visit to the National Holocaust Centre in Laxton, Nottinghamshire. While we were there we followed ‘The Journey’ – the story of a young Jewish boy, Leo Stein, whose life was affected by the anti-Semitism of the Nazi party and who eventually escaped to Britain on the Kinder transport.
We also took a large group of parents with us. The parents spent the morning learning more about The Holocaust and heard testimony from Holocaust survivors. After lunch the children showed their parents around ‘The Journey’ exhibition and shared what they had learned during the morning.
Behaviour was excellent throughout the day and the children listened carefully and asked lots of thoughtful questions.
We are now looking forward to a visit from Ruth Barnett, a Holocaust survivor, who is coming to school next week to speak to us about her personal experience.
